Choose one small theme
Use a theme you can explore with things you already know: a familiar journey, a favourite corner or three observations from a day. Give the booklet a working title rather than waiting for a perfect one.
Give every page a job
Use the cover to invite someone in. Give each inside page one observation or idea. Use the final page to leave a question, a contrast or a quiet ending. A page can contain a drawing, a photograph, a few words or a mixture.
Read the sequence
Put the pages in order and move through them as a reader. Look for one place where a detail repeats usefully and one place where something can be removed. Finish a first version before making a list of future improvements.
